June 2023

Andy, Molly and Sid (the bully)

Three very hungry babies rescued from a garden on June 9th in Thornton after they had been seen out during the daytime for several days with no sign of their Mum.  Approximately three weeks old.

I detected a bit of a bully with one of the males, so he had to be separated from the other two.  Currently doing nicely and nearly put on enough weight now to go for release soon.

Godfrey......

'Godfrey' was admitted on 15th June after being seen just sitting on a local driveway during daytime.  He had practically given up.  Very underweight, dehydrated, covered in ticks, loaded with internal parasites and has long term infected front and back feet.  Seen here having a paddle in a warm disinfectant solution to help clean his feet.  Ticks removed, antibiotics and replacement fluids and wormers given.  Condition has improved since admission.

Godfrey is now doing really well.  His feet are healing nicely and he is responding to treatment.  Has a really good appetite which is good and he is putting on weight.

Update:  He was released back into the wild into a safe release garden in Cleveleys on June 26th.

Jerry......

'Jerry' was admitted after he was spotted being chased by a cat in a local road.  He is only around 8 weeks old and is severely dehydrated and hypothermic, so is now being cared for in an incubator.  He has quite a bad injury to his mouth, not sure of the cause but it doesn't look good.

UPDATE:  sadly lost little Jerry overnight.
