Fruitloop......

'Fruitloop' was rescued from a garden in Poulton on 14th September after he was seen to be active during the daytime.  At just 150gms he should still be with his Mum, but there had been no recent sign of her.  He had been given apple and pear to eat  - not advisable food for a baby hedgehog!  Fruitloop will be here for a while possibly over winter now, as it's doubtful we can get his weight up for release before then.

Jeffery......

Really pleased with 'Jeffery' as I really did not think he was going to make it when he was admitted.  He was rescued from a garden in Poulton as he was seen lying on his side in the sun.  Hedgehogs do not sunbathe - when they are seen doing this they are very ill and so cold they are trying to raise their body temperature.  Jeffery had quite bad fly strike with maggots active in his anus which had already caused some damage in that area.

Several days on and following treatment he was now looking much better.  He is eating well and putting on weight so hopefully he can be released quite soon.

Morris......

Poor little baby 'Morris' was found on 25th September by a builder working near Morrisons who had found him trapped down a sandy hole filled with water.  Morris was covered in wet sand and so cold he could barely stand as he wobbled from side to side.  I had to hold him to be able to take a photo that wasn't blurred.  There wasn't time to wait for an incubator or heat mat to warm up, so it was quicker to go straight onto an emergency hot water bottle to try and get him warm.  Two hours later, now dry and nice and toasty he was transferred into an incubator and was tucking into his dinner.  This is one very hungry baby.
