Mac......

'Mac' was rescued on May 2nd from the Fleetwood area after he was spotted by a dog walker who knew it wasn't right that he should be out in the daytime.  He is an old boy, terribly underweight for his size and with a host of internal nasties.  Treatment started and will monitor his progress.  Always have a soft spot for the oldies.

I was just checking on Mac this morning (19th May) to make sure he was using his back leg properly as I had noticed he had an infected wound there.  I detected some lingering infection, so back on the antibiotics.  His overall condition is much improved from the skeletal mess he was in when first admitted.  He now weighs over 800gms.  Hopefully he can go for release in about a week's time.

UPDATE:  Mac has now been released back into the wild into a safe release garden.

May......

'May' was admitted with breathing difficulties and tested positive for lungworm.  She is being treated with antibiotics and appropriate worming  meds together with meds given via a nebuliser to help clear the congestion and help with her breathing.  This is a purposely silent bit of kit and does not stress her in any way.  She is responding to treatment but still very poorly.

John......

'John' was admitted several days ago from a garden where visiting hedgehogs are monitored via cameras.  He was very underweight and had several injuries including a deep and massively infected neck / ear wound. Also the end of his nose had been sliced off, probably someone's careless act with a strimmer. It looks like he will lose one or two toes as well.  His wounds were cleaned and he was started on antibiotics.  He is now eating well, gaining weight every day and his wounds are healing nicely, so his outlook is looking more promising than it did when first admitted.

UPDATE:  John's wounds healed up nicely and was released back into his original garden on 11th June.
