Alexandria......
This baby hedgehog was rescued from a local garden as she was found wandering around during the daytime with no sign of her Mum. She was approximately four weeks old weighing just short of 100gms. She was icy cold and dehydrated so was tucked up warm in an incubator and given replacement fluids.
Update: Has now been released into a safe area on 7th July weighing 495gms.
Gary......
This male hedgehog was rescued from a garden in Garstang. He was found collapsed and lying in the sun in an attempt to get warm, while flies and bluebottles were landing on him and laying their eggs. Massively underweight for his size. He had basically given up. Some hours were spent picking off every single fly egg and maggot. He was transferred into an incubator and given fluid support. His condition was worrying but twenty four hours later his condition had much improved. Gary was released fit and healthy back into the wild at the end of June.
Grumpy......
This baby hedgehog was found in a local garden wandering around on his own. This is 93gms of pure attitude! I need extra thick gloves to handle this one, as he huffs and puffs and throws himself around to the extreme when handled. A real prickly character who dislikes any handling or disturbance with a vengeance. Quite unusual for something this small, but obviously will be a survivor.
