August 2021

Josephine.....

'Josephine' was admitted from the Fleetwood area after being found out during daylight hours.  She was a very old hedgehog, just skin and bone with no reserves left and severely dehydrated.  A life in the wild had taken its toll and she was worn out. She was placed in an incubator and received replacement drip fluid therapy.  Hope this one pulls through, but she is in quite a bad way.

Update:  From the almost collapsed state 'Josephine' was in on arrival, she has made incredible progress having put on over 100gms in weight.  She is receiving treatment for a gut infection and internal parasites.

Minnie and Mo......

These two little females weighing just 76gms were rescued from a garden in early August after the family dog brought them into the house.  Both good feeders and did well, going on to be released at the end of August into a safe site.

Wobble......

Wobble arrived severely underweight and with severe dehydration, so bad his eyes had sunk right back, giving the impression that he didn't have any.  He was so weak he could barely stand, just wobbled from side to side.  He had a bad gut infection requiring replacement fluids, antibiotics and appropriate wormers.  Now much improved, eating well and gaining weight every day.  His outlook looks more promising.
