Roy......
Little 'Roy' was just picked up out of the road by a kind member of the public before he was run over on Castle Ave in Carleton. He is extremely thin weighing just 320gms. Also very hungry. Now tucked up safe and warm on a heat mat after tucking into his dinner. My guess he will have an overload of internal nasties which he will need treatment for. Will be tested for these later.
Release - no name......
This little chappie was admitted at the beginning of December 2024 as an autumn juvenile weighing just 250gms. Far too small to survive over winter. He had treatment for internal parasites and it was well over a week before he started to put any weight on. Eight weeks on I finally got his weight up to nearly 700gms. He had started to get extremely stressed overnight, completely trashing his cage as he tried unsuccessfully to tunnel his way out. So the decision was made to release him on 29th January back into the garden where he was found in Poulton. Kept any longer would not have been in his best interest and would have been detrimental to his health. So while the night time temps are not too bad at the moment - off he went. There is a trail cam in the garden to monitor him, food is left out and a nest box available so he will be fine. Looks like he has already found where the food is!
