Carly......
This female was rescued on 14th June after being found trapped inside a locked garage. She could have been there for several days. Carly was very thin and dehydrated and weighed just 450gms. If she hadn't been found when she was, she would not have survived for much longer. She was released ten days later weighing 700gms into a local safe release garden.
Mr Chips......
Arrived from the Chipping area on 14th June after being found out in a garden during the daytime. Quite poorly with an overload of internal parasites including flukes. After a course of appropriate wormers and antibiotics his condition is now improving.
Update: "Goodbye Mr Chips". Now weighing over 700gms he was released back into the garden where he was found in Chipping on 4th July 2020.
AJ and siblings......
'AJ' was the first to arrive weighing just 63gms after being found lying on his back at the base of a slope in a garden. His nest was at the top of the slope underneath a woodpile and so was unable to get back to it. The following day another baby was in the same predicament so it finished up all three babies being brought in for care.
UPDATE 3rd July:
All three babies now weigh over 300gms and are to be transferred shortly into a safe outside environment prior to full release back into the garden where they were found.
Donald......
This baby came from the Poulton area with severe fly strike. He had fly eggs and newly hatched maggots in his eyes, ears, mouth and every orifice. It took hours to get them all off him.
If you see a baby hedgehog lying in the open with flies landing on him, pick him up and contact a local Rescue ASAP. Don't leave it for several days before doing anything, by then it may well be too late to help it and all the while the baby is being eaten alive.
